The provincial city of Cusco and the Andina University, are organizing a symposium bringing together experts from Peru and the World. The mayor of Cusco said that this activity is performed in commemoration of the centenary of the discovery of the Inca city and that this symposium will reassess and discuss Inca heritage preservation. The mayor also mentioned that there will be topics related to heritage, culture, nature, history, archeology, tourism, economy and education.

Arequipa group Quimera, will launch a global photo contest called “I was at Machu Picchu”. This contest will allow people to submit photos of their visits to the Inca city and then select the top 100 anda jury will choose the winning photo. On the other hand, Vega Llona said that as a prelude to the celebrations for the centenary of the discovery of Machu Picchu in May begins the activity of the Holy Year - Andino, which lasts until May 2012.

Como parte de un proyecto piloto que cuenta con el respaldo internacional, la Dirección Regional de Cultura de Cusco trabaja en la rehabilitación de cuatro casonas coloniales del Centro Histórico en la ciudad del Cusco.
